We are a family-run Scottish specialist near Stirling, so you are not buying from a faceless drop shipper. What sets us apart

Why buy your sauna from Calido

A sauna is a serious purchase, a garden building you will heat, sit in and rely on for years. It should not arrive from an anonymous warehouse with a leaflet and good luck.

A real Scottish business, not a drop shipper

We are family-run, based near Stirling, and we already supply wood-fired hot tubs and stoves across Scotland. You can phone us, and we will still be here when you have a question next winter.

Genuine Kirami, made in Finland

Kirami build saunas the Finnish way: heat treated timber, real ventilation, 40mm staves on the barrels, and fully insulated cabins with double or triple glazing, so they cope with our climate instead of leaking heat through thin panels. We will show you the difference between a sauna that lasts and one that looks the same in a photo.

We will tell you the honest version

If a barrel sauna won't fit your access, if your base isn't ready, or if an electric heater suits your life better than a wood-fired one, we will say so before you order. That is how a family business keeps customers.

We know wood-fired

Logs, stoves and hot tubs are our day job. If you go for a wood-fired sauna heater, we can supply the kiln-dried logs to run it too.

Pricing

How much does a wood-fired sauna cost in Scotland?

Most sauna sellers hide the price behind an enquiry form. We would rather be straight with you, because a sauna is more than one number. It is the sauna, the heater, the base and the delivery.

The sauna itself

Kaski barrel saunas are £9,500. Insulated FinVision cabins start at £15,000 for the Dawn, run from £17,000 to £25,500 across the Misty models, and reach £50,000 for an off-grid Zero with solar panels and a battery.

The heater

Kirami saunas take either a wood-fired or an electric Harvia heater, chosen when you order.

The base and groundwork

A sauna needs a firm, level base: paving, a concrete pad, or decking rated for it.

Delivery

Both Kaski barrels come with free UK kerbside delivery, as a flat pack for you to put together. Assembly can be added at checkout. The FinVision Dawn includes delivery and standard installation on the UK mainland. The Misty and Zero arrive fully built, so we look at your access first and quote the delivery from there.

What moves the price, and what doesn't

The heater doesn't. On every model we sell, wood-fired and electric cost the same, so choose the one that suits how you'll use it. Size does, and so does the build: a barrel is the cheaper route into a proper sauna, and an insulated cabin costs more because there's more in it. Adding infrared to a Misty costs £3,000. The Zero costs the most because it's built to run on very little power, or none from the mains at all.

Tell us your spot and access and we will give you a clear, itemised figure, with no vague from pricing.

Spread the cost. Saunas are ideal for finance: use Novuna Personal Finance, PayByFinance, for longer terms, or Klarna, Clearpay or Shop Pay at checkout.

Choose the shape

Barrel sauna or cabin sauna, which is right for you?

This is the first decision, and there's no single right answer. Here's the honest trade-off.

Kirami barrel saunas compared with FinVision cabin saunas.

Best for Most gardens, most budgets, and anyone who loves the lookYear-round use in a cold winter, and a design-led garden

Our take: a barrel sauna is the sweet spot for most Scottish gardens. It's quick to heat, sociable and good value, and it seats four to six. Choose a FinVision cabin if insulation, glazing and a modern look matter more than budget. We stock both and will talk you through it.

Choose the heat

Wood-fired vs electric sauna heater

Every Kirami sauna we sell can be ordered with either heater, apart from the FinVision Zero, which is electric only. The choice is about how you want to use it, not which is better.

Wood-fired heater

The traditional Finnish experience: the crackle, the smell, the gentle loyly (steam), and no reliance on mains power. It is the atmospheric choice, it suits off-grid and rural gardens, and it pairs naturally with a log supply, ours. The trade-off is a little effort: lighting it, feeding it, and allowing time to heat up. You will also need a flue with correct clearances from anything combustible.

Electric heater

Flick a switch, set the temperature, done. Fast, controllable and low-effort, ideal if you will use the sauna often and want it hot on demand. The trade-off is that it needs a proper electrical supply fitted by a qualified electrician, and it lacks the ritual of a live fire.

Our take: if you love the ceremony, are further off-grid, or already burn wood, go wood-fired, and let us sort your kiln-dried logs. If convenience and frequent use matter most, go electric. Tell us how you picture using it and we will point you the right way.

Size guide

What size sauna do I need?

A quick, honest guide before you fall for the biggest one:

2 to 4 people

The FinVision Misty Small. It sits on a 1.5m by 2.3m footprint, seats up to four, or lets one person lie down. Perfect for couples and small households, and the quickest to heat.

4 to 6 people

Most of the range lives here: both Kaski barrels, the FinVision Dawn, the Misty Medium and the Zero. Room for the family and a couple of friends.

Remember: a bigger sauna takes longer and costs more to heat, and needs more space and a stronger base. Buy for how you will actually use it most weeks, not for the one party a year.

The ritual

Why people love a home sauna

A sauna at home turns your garden into a place to switch off. People come to Calido for a sauna because they want:

A proper wind down

Heat, quiet, and time away from screens. The Finnish ritual, at home, whenever you like.

Recovery and easing tired muscles

A favourite after sport, the gym, a long day on your feet, or a cold Scottish shift outdoors.

The contrast

Hot sauna, cold air, or a cold plunge, or one of our wood-fired hot tubs alongside. That contrast is the whole point, and Scotland supplies the cold for free.

Somewhere to gather

A sauna is sociable. It is where the good conversations happen.

We are sauna specialists, not clinicians, so we will always talk benefits in plain terms and leave medical claims to the professionals. If you have a health condition, check with your GP before regular sauna use.

Practicalities

Siting, delivery and installation, the practical bit

The saunas are the easy part. Getting one into your garden is where good advice earns its keep, so here is what actually matters.

The base

A sauna needs a firm, level foundation that can take the weight: paving, a concrete pad, or decking rated for it. For a Kaski barrel, level means within 5mm. Get this right first. It matters more than anything else on this list.

Access

Barrel and cabin saunas are large. We will check the route in, so gates, paths, slopes and corners, before delivery day, and there are no nasty surprises.

Wood-fired flue

Wood-fired models need a flue installed with correct clearances from combustible materials.

Electric supply

Electric heaters need a proper supply fitted by a qualified electrician. On the Kaski barrels, we send the commando socket ahead of time so your electrician can fit it before we arrive. A wood-fired barrel still needs a simple 13A supply, but only for the lights.

Delivery area

We deliver across our Central Scotland heartland, so Stirling, Falkirk, Alloa, Bridge of Allan and Fife, and nationwide across the UK.

Avoid these

Before you buy: 5 things sauna buyers get wrong

We would rather you buy the right sauna once.

1. Skimping on the base

A sauna on an uneven or under built base will sit wrong, drain badly and age quickly. Sort the ground first.

2. Forgetting about access

People fall for a big barrel, then can't get it down the side of the house. Measure the route before you order, and we will help.

3. Buying on price alone

Cheap saunas cut corners on insulation, ventilation and timber, and it shows in a Scottish winter with heat loss, damp and a short life. Kirami's Finnish build is exactly what our climate demands.

4. Choosing the wrong heater for your life

Wood-fired is the ritual but takes effort. Electric is effortless but needs a supply. Match it to how you will really use it.

5. Over sizing

A six-person sauna is glorious, and slower and costlier to heat if it is usually just the two of you. Buy for your normal week.

The honest bit

When a garden sauna is the wrong buy

A sauna is a building you heat. We'd rather lose the sale than sell you one that sits locked up from October to April, so here's who we'd steer away.

If you'd use it a handful of times a year. Even our cheapest barrel is £9,500. That's a lot of money for a summer novelty, and a spa day is a lot cheaper.

If you can't get it into the garden. A FinVision cabin arrives in one piece. A Misty Medium is 2.3m by 2.3m and 2.55m tall. If the side gate is narrow and there's no other way round, a flat-pack barrel may be your only real option. We'll check before you order, not on the day.

If you really want to sit in hot water. That's a hot tub. Plenty of our customers end up with both. Start with the one you'll use most.

If you want it hot the moment you get in from work. A wood-fired heater needs lighting and time. If you're not willing to give it that, choose electric, or wait until you are.

Still unsure? Call us. It's what the phone is for.

Straight recommendations

The best sauna for your garden

If you just want us to point:

Best value:

the Kaski 220 View barrel. It's the lowest price in the range and seats four to six, with a big panoramic window. You put it together yourself, or pay for us to do it.

Best for a small garden:

the FinVision Misty Small. The footprint is 1.5m by 2.3m, and it still gives you a proper insulated cabin.

Best for a Scottish winter:

the FinVision Misty Medium. It's fully insulated with double-glazed windows, and the standard electric heater does dry heat or gentle steam.

Best for cooling off between rounds:

the Kaski 240 Panorama Canopy. The covered porch gives you somewhere dry to sit, and somewhere to leave the towels.

Best simple cabin:

the FinVision Dawn. It arrives built, and delivery and standard installation on the UK mainland are included in the price.

Best with little or no mains power:

the FinVision Zero. It runs on a 3.6kW heater, and there's an off-grid option with solar panels and battery storage. It's also the most expensive sauna we sell, by some distance.

Every sauna above shows its current price on its own page. If two of them look equally right, ring us and describe your garden.

FAQ

Sauna FAQs

How much does a wood-fired sauna cost in Scotland?

It depends on the model (barrel vs FinVision cabin), the size, and whether you choose a wood-fired or electric heater, plus base and delivery. Tell us your setup and we will give you an itemised, all-in figure.

Barrel sauna or cabin sauna, which is better?

Neither is better. A barrel sauna heats quickly, is sociable and better value, and seats four to six. A FinVision cabin is better insulated with a modern, glazed look for year round Scottish use. We stock both.

How many people do your saunas seat?

Up to six. The FinVision Misty Small seats two to four, and the Kaski barrels, the FinVision Dawn, the Misty Medium and the Zero all seat four to six.

Wood-fired or electric heater?

Wood-fired gives you the traditional ritual and doesn't need mains power to heat, but it needs lighting, feeding and a flue. Electric is easy and on demand, but it needs a proper electrical supply. Every Kirami sauna we sell can take either, except the FinVision Zero, which is electric only.

Do I need a special base for a sauna?

Yes. A firm, level base that can take the weight: paving, a concrete pad or suitably rated decking. Getting the base right first is the most important step.

Can you deliver and install a sauna across Scotland?

We deliver across Central Scotland and nationwide across the UK, and we will check your access before delivery day.

Are Kirami saunas any good in the Scottish climate?

Yes. Kirami are made in Finland for exactly this kind of cold: heat treated timber, proper ventilation, 40mm staves on the barrels, and fully insulated cabins with double or triple glazing. That build quality is the difference over cheaper look alikes.

Can I run a wood-fired sauna on your logs?

Yes. If you choose a wood-fired heater, we can supply the kiln-dried logs to run it.

Can I spread the cost of a sauna?

Yes. Use Novuna Personal Finance, PayByFinance, for longer terms, or Klarna, Clearpay or Shop Pay at checkout.

Does a wood-fired sauna cost more than an electric one?

No. On every sauna we sell, the price is the same whichever heater you choose. Running costs are a different matter: one burns logs and the other uses electricity.

Do saunas come ready built?

The FinVision cabins do. Kaski barrels arrive as a flat pack for self-assembly, and you can add assembly at checkout. Where access allows, a barrel can be built at our end and delivered in one piece. Where it doesn't, the team build it on site.

What does an electric sauna need at the house?

A suitable supply fitted by a qualified electrician. On the Kaski barrels we send the commando socket in advance so your electrician can fit it before delivery. The larger electric heaters may need three-phase power, so check that first.
