Save yourself a headache
Before you buy: 4 things buyers get wrong
1. Oversizing the stove
A stove that is too big runs cool and glazes up. Bigger is not warmer.
2. Smoke Control Areas
Most Scottish towns are in one. You need a DEFRA-exempt stove.
3. Skipping the chimney check
A tired flue is the single most common cause of install delays.
4. Cheap non-HETAS installation
It voids your warranty, your insurance and Building Standards sign-off.
Which one for you?
Wood-only vs multi-fuel
Wood-only
Cleaner glass, a calmer flame, and the best efficiency with kiln-dried logs. Ideal for main living rooms in rural Scotland where good wood is easy to store.
Multi-fuel
Wood plus approved smokeless fuel. Flexible for city flats where fuel choice matters more than peak efficiency.

Work out the size you need
Sizing tool
What size stove do I need?
Measure the room and we'll give you a starting figure. We confirm it on the free home survey.
How we worked this out
- We work out the room volume: length times width times ceiling height.
- Recommended output is that volume divided by 14, the usual rule of thumb for an averagely insulated room.
- Most Scottish living rooms land between 4 and 6 kW.
- A draughty room, a big bay window or a poorly insulated solid wall pushes the answer up. New double glazing pushes it down.
- This is a guide, not a guarantee. Insulation, how cold you run your home and how you use the stove all change the answer.

FAQ
Common questions
How much does it cost to install a wood-burning stove in Scotland?
Inside Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire, we give you a firm, all-in price after a free home survey. No made-up figures on the website.
Are wood-burning stoves banned in Scotland?
No. New wood burners are legal to buy, install and use. In a Smoke Control Area you need a DEFRA-exempt model. Most of ours are, and we'll confirm the right one for your postcode.
What size stove do I need?
Roughly the room volume divided by 14 gives you the kW. Most living rooms need 4 to 6 kW. Use our calculator above and we'll confirm it on the survey.
Do I need an existing chimney?
No. A twin-wall flue system can be fitted in a home without a chimney.
Multi-fuel or wood-only?
A wood-only stove burns cleaner and looks calmer. Multi-fuel gives you flexibility if wood is hard to store.
Can I see stoves before buying?
Yes. More than 30 lit stoves in Stirling. Just turn up during opening hours.
Do you deliver across Scotland, and what about installation?
We deliver to most UK postcodes. We provide full installation with HETAS-approved installers in Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire, and can recommend HETAS installers elsewhere.
How long does an install take?
Most installs take one to two days once the survey is signed off.
What brands do you stock?
Charnwood, Contura, Woodwarm, Clock, Heta, Pevex, Stovax and more.
Can I spread the cost?
Yes. Novuna finance for stoves, plus Klarna, Clearpay and Shop Pay on smaller items.
